Building foundations in entrepreneurship through story-telling in Virtual Reality

Solve real-world problems by leveraging your own lived experience and technology.

RISING VR is a 12-week program designed to educate and equip students of the African Diaspora with technical and entrepreneurial skills.
With a focus on design-thinking, prototyping in VR and business fundamentals, participants are equipped to nurture an idea and pitch it as a business opportunity using VR to demo and prototype.

Personalized Learning Plan

We cultivate a balance between professional and self-development goals by personalizing a learning plan per cohort member and creating URL and IRL community spaces. Program participants are expected to produce and demo their business pitch by incorporating elements of design-thinking in their VR prototype by the end of the program.

Empowering Afro-Diasporic Creators

RISING VR programs empower Afro-Diasporic creators with strategic digital knowledge and capacity in identifying and understanding the challenges, issues, and opportunities in creating through virtual reality. Participants solve real-world problems leveraging their own lived experiences and communities to innovate solutions using VR media and business foundations.

For Community, By Community

With partners in across Toronto not-for-profit and Black-owned organizations and businesses, this program is crafted in context of the Black experience.

“A reminder to individuals that what happens to us doesn’t define us. It only designs us to manifest our destiny in life.”
